Image View Description: The USS Downes, hit by a Japanese incendiary bomb while in dry dock alongside the USS Cassin (not pictured, behind Downes). The dry dock was flooded in an attempt to smother the fires, but this only worsened conditions, as oil from a ruptured fuel tank spread out across the water.
